Jeanette Smith-Perrone has been a professor at Tacoma Community College since 2008. She 35+ years of outstanding proven success in the leadership, strategic planning, project management, project implementation and support of corporate operations for fast-paced logistics, legal, health care, education, retail, utility, food product, grocery, graphic design, manufacturing, distribution, non-profit and government organizations.
She experienced situational homelessness in the 1980s due to job loss. She understands the struggle to focus on housing while still working towards a better future. She attended Tacoma Community College in an accelerated technology training program in 1987-88. This experience triggered a renewed drive to improve the outlook for her family. Thirty years later she is now coming full circle to guide other students to persist through adversity presented by homelessness.
John J Smith is a Marriage and Family Therapist. His practice is Center of Focus LLC. He is a Tacoma Boy, born and raised in Tacoma. He has travelled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. He has had the honor to immerse himself in many cultures. One of the important aspects of his practice in marriage and family therapy is a strong understanding and acceptance of others, their beliefs, and lifestyles. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, he is very successful at guiding clients to finding new pathways through the use of emotionally focused and cognitive-behavioral therapies.
He experienced situational homelessness in his youth due to parent divorce and then again in the 1980s due to job loss. He knows that you stop thinking about dreams and focus only on survival when homeless.
